Processed Raspberries in the Limelight at SCAN Symposium

For the past several years, the NPRC has sponsored the Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists (SCAN) dietetic practice group, the largest dietetic practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. SCAN members are dietitians with nutrition expertise in the areas of sports, wellness, and the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, influencing the food decisions of many consumers.

This year, the NPRC was a premier sponsor of SCAN’s sold-out continuing education symposium, which was attended by hundreds of SCAN members in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We carved out a unique opportunity to showcase frozen raspberries in a variety of culinary applications during SCAN’s opening reception, giving symposium attendees the opportunity to experience the flavor and versatility of frozen raspberries while learning about their health benefits. SCAN leadership members conducted live culinary demonstrations showing how easy it is to prepare recipes with frozen raspberries.

We just returned from the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) conference in New Orleans where the NPRC exhibited at the trade show. AADE is a professional association made up of more than 14,000 members including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and others—a broad network of practitioners involved in the daily treatment of diabetes patients.

Educating Diabetes Educators at AADE

At this conference, we educated numerous professionals in attendance on the benefits and advantages of frozen raspberries, including the fact that raspberries are the highest fiber and lowest sugar berry. In addition, we sampled our Raspberry Pumpkin Muffins, which are always a hit!
