About Us
Why Washington Red Raspberries?
In the cool, marine climate of the Pacific Northwest, Washington State is home to acres upon acres of picturesque raspberry fields. With stunning views of the mountains, growers tend year-round to their farms to grow a different kind of raspberry.
Washington produces approximately 90% of the nation’s frozen red raspberry crop.
Because these raspberries are frozen within hours of being picked, our growers can wait until those raspberries are perfectly ripe and at peak deliciousness before harvesting–and this locks in the fruit’s integrity, flavor and nutritional value so you can enjoy picked-at-the-peak-of-ripeness raspberries year-round.
About the Washington Red Raspberry Commission
The Washington Red Raspberry Commission (WRRC) was formed in 1976 to support and promote the raspberry industry. The WRRC operates programs that facilitate cultural and harvesting improvements, in addition to regulating unfair trade practices within the industry. It also establishes promotion plans and conducts programs for advertising, sales, promotion and other programs for maintaining present markets as well as creating new or larger markets for raspberries, and it provides for research in the production and processing of raspberries.
There are about 20 different suppliers of red raspberry products that comprise the WRRC. Each company is committed to growing, harvesting and processing the highest quality berries in the world, and meeting the most stringent quality standards on the planet. These growers and processors are primarily located in the western part of Washington, as well as southern Canada and northern Oregon.
